Many thanks for supporting Neil, our Ride London 100 cyclist!  He made it with flying colours!!

We’d like to thank everyone who supported our Reading Force cyclist in August’s gruelling Prudential Ride London 100 miles! And of course we’d like to congratulate and thank Neil Baverstock himself for his amazing achievement.

Neil setting off at 0530hrs for his epic ride

Neil prepared for this epic cycle ride with significant training in all weathers which paid off on the day. It was a challenging ride made especially difficult by being one of the hottest days of the summer.

He completed the 100 mile cycle in much less time than expected – so much so that while following his progress on the official app for the ride, Alison had to rush between planned stops in order to watch him whizz past!

In total Neil has raised £1,135 which, with the addition of the gift aid refunded tax paid by donors, rises to an impressive £1,376.25. We’re delighted that his money will be used to send 250 Forces children new books and scrapbooks to share and chat about with their families.

In Green Park after the finish, where all the cyclists met up with their supporters and sponsors, the atmosphere was so positive. Neil was pleased to do this for Reading Force as the project’s launch was heavily influenced by shared-reading within his own family to keep everyone in touch while he was away on deployment with the Army. We’re thrilled Neil chose to support Reading Force with his amazing cycling challenge.

Neil enjoying his well deserved rewards!

With our sincere thanks and appreciation to Neil, and to you, who encouraged and sponsored him, from the Reading Force Team
Alison, Elaine, Fiona and Hattie

Neil’s fundraising page is still open for donations.

Developed by the Mayor of London and his agencies in 2013, Prudential RideLondon is the world’s greatest festival of cycling. RideLondon-Surrey 100 is a 100-mile challenge on the same closed roads as the professionals. The eighth edition will take place over the weekend of 15-16 August 2020.
