Stephanie is an ordinary girl who is lonely in the normal world. When she meets Skulduggery, a resurrected skeleton detective, she makes a choice to choose a name and is enveloped in the magic of Mr Pleasant and his world. But trouble is stirring: Nefarian Serpine has a devilish plan to recover the Sceptre, a very powerful weapon, and bring back the defeated Faceless Ones, who will raze the world to the ground.

It has a good balance of action, dialogue and storyline. I liked the consistent involvement of different characters and settings. The author often fails to make it clear who is speaking in long periods of dialogue. This book is not your modern fantasy book, but it won’t fail to meet your reading essentials if you like Anthony Horowitz’s books or Percy Jackson.
